Description
The barn at Nobles Farm is a Grade II listed building dating from the mid to late 18th century, with some alterations. It features a timber frame with weatherboard cladding and a corrugated iron roof, which has plain tiles on the rear and midstray. The barn consists of three bays with a rear aisle, and an additional bay and aisle have been added to the right. Originally, there were central opposed cart entries with board double doors; the front entry is under a slightly raised roof, while the rear entry is in a gabled midstray. The yard elevation includes an inserted window on the left and a corrugated-iron lean-to on the right, which is not of special interest. The roof is hipped at the left end.
Inside, there are some re-used timbers, wall posts with sharply-cut jowels, and both arched and straight braces to the plates and tie-beams. Knee-braces support the front entrance, and the roof features queen-strut trusses with through purlins, old rafters, and plank wind-braces.
