Description
The Small House is a house that was originally a farmhouse, built around 1600. It has been subdivided in the past but has now been returned to a single residence. The building features a timber frame that has been reclad in the 18th century, with an early 19th-century extension and 20th-century renovations. The walls are constructed of brick in Flemish bond with blue headers, and there is a first-floor band and rubbed flat arches. A former doorway has been filled in, and the side is finished in Flemish bond with cambered arches. The north gable exposes the timber frame with brick infill, and the ground floor is also brickwork. The roof is tiled and half-hipped at the north end. The east front elevation has two storeys with three windows, including casements and one large French window. The rear features 20th-century dormers and single-storey extensions that include the current entrance.
