Description

The wall to the south of Lewes House is possibly from the 18th century and was repaired in the 20th century. It is constructed of stone blocks topped with red brick coping. This retaining wall, which measures 15 yards long, supports the south end of the garden and features buttressing added in the 20th century. The wall is also adorned with a cast-iron hooped balustrade, likely from the 19th or early 20th century. It is included for its group value.
