Description

Rose Cottage comprises two houses, numbers 1 and 2, built in the early 18th century and late 18th/early 19th century respectively. Number 1 has a three-room plan with a rear outshot, while number 2 has a two-room plan and a rear outshot. Both are two-storey, two-window range cottages. Number 1 is rendered over brickwork and has gabled plain tile roofs with catslide extensions to the rear, and a brick end stack. Number 2 also has a tiled roof and a brick end stack. Number 1 features flat, rendered arches above a central six-panelled door and mid-19th century three-light casement windows with glazing bars. Number 2 has a more compact, symmetrical appearance, with flat, rendered arches above a central plank door and horizontal sliding sash windows with glazing bars, as well as a raised string course. The interior details are not known but are considered likely to be of interest. The second listing describes a cottage of the 18th century, two storeys high, with four windows. It is faced with cement and features a string course and a tiled roof with casement windows, and a doorway with a six-panel door.
