Description
No 2 Upper Lord's Place is a barn and hovel dating from the 18th century. It has a timber-framed structure that is weatherboarded, topped with a slate roof that is half-hipped to the north. There is a ridge stack at the north end and a stack on the slope at the front left of a large sloping-head dormer. The front features a deep catslide with a three-light iron casement window to the left of a panelled door, two unusual windows to the right, and double garage doors at the far right.
The left side of the building has two storeys and a garret, with a single window in the garret, two windows on the first floor with a boarded string course above, and a single window on the ground floor to the right of a boarded door that has a flat hood supported by brackets. All windows are cast-iron diamond-glazed casements. There is a small shed-block that projects from the front to the left of the centre.
Inside the barn, which is located to the south, there are two bays and it is aisled only to the west. The posts have rounded jowls, and the roof features queen struts with stepped purlins. The barn was originally much longer, and it appears that the hovel was added in the late 18th century or early 19th century.
