Description
The Bowling Green Pavilion is a late 18th-century structure located within the precincts of Lewes Castle. It features a timber frame with timber cladding set on a red brick plinth and is topped with a slate monopitch roof. The east front showcases three segmental arches that support a full entablature resting on slim pilasters, with paired doors positioned in the center. A cill band runs across the front, complemented by panelling below. The rear of the pavilion is weatherboarded. This bowling green is part of the bailey of Lewes Castle and is one of the oldest in England, having been in use since around 1700.
