Description

These are a pair of houses, later used as an office, built in the mid-18th century with alterations in the early 19th century. They are constructed of Caen stone, some brought to courses and some snecked, with a rendered second floor. The building features a wooden modillion cornice above the first floor and a cill band to the second floor. A moulded cornice and parapet tops the building, sheltering a plain tiled roof with a single stack on the ridge to the right and two segment-headed dormers on the left.

A shallow central projection rises from the first-floor cornice into an attic storey, topped with a tall, modillioned pediment. The building is three storeys high with regular fenestration, notably lacking a window in the centre of the second floor. Glazing bar sashes are set in open boxes; the outer bays on the second floor have wider windows, and the first floor features tripartite windows in the centre and outer bays. The ground floor also has tripartite windows in the outer bays. Two arched entrances with panelled doors, cast-iron fanlights, and panelled reveals are located either side of the centre. These are framed by columned surrounds with full entablatures and segmental pediments.
