Description
The Barracks in Throwley is a 17th-century building originally used as stables and groom's quarters, now serving as a cowhouse. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble with ashlar quoins and dressings, topped with a plain tile roof and featuring an ashlar integral end stack. The building is aligned north-south and faces east, standing two storeys tall with seven bays. It has two-light chamfer mullioned windows with rebated surrounds, with doors located to the left and right. At the rear, there are three two-light chamfer mullioned windows on the first floor to the right and a double leaf door on the first floor left of centre. Inside, there are wooden animal stalls. Throwley Barracks is part of a picturesque group of buildings that includes Throwley Hall and Throwley Old Hall.
