Description
The building is a former barn that has been converted into a cowhouse and loft, located approximately 40 yards west of Lane End Farmhouse. It likely dates from the 18th century and has undergone some alterations over time. The structure is made of coursed and squared rubble with ashlar quoins and dressings, topped with a clay tile roof featuring coped verges. Inside, there is a threshing floor to the north of the center and a cowhouse to the south, which has a loft above it. The facade includes two windows on either side; the lower parts are fixed while the upper parts pivot. There are also two board doors located to the left and right of the center. The right-hand door and window have been inserted into a tall blocked barn doorway, which features a segmental arch and dripstone. This doorway retains part of one door in the top left corner that now opens to the loft. Additionally, there are 20th-century lean-to buildings attached to the left and right sides of the facade.
