Description
The Fold is a house built in the mid-18th century and early 19th century. It is constructed from rubble limestone with sandstone dressings and features a plain tile roof with stone coped gables and moulded kneelers. The building has stone gable end stacks and a ridge stack, forming an irregular L-plan with a three-storey main block and a two-storey north wing.
On the south elevation, there are flush stone quoins and three bays. The central feature is a full-height staircase window with a pointed arched top and two transoms. To the right, there is a two-light window with a stone surround on each floor. To the left, there are French windows on the ground floor and a two-light window above, which has a chamfered stone surround, along with a similar window above that.
The east elevation has an off-centre doorway with a moulded stone surround and a 19th-century half-glazed door. To the left of the doorway is a glazing bar sash window, and to the right, there is a tripartite glazing bar sash and another glazing bar sash. Above, there are three glazing bar sash windows. All the windows have dressed stone surrounds, with the ground floor windows featuring horizontal dripmoulds.
