Description

Cherry Cottage and the attached dwelling at the north west end are two adjoining houses that were formerly cottages and outbuildings, arranged in an 'L' shape. They date from 1693, 1755, and 1771, with the latter dates relating to the current buildings, and they have undergone 20th-century alterations. The structures are built of coursed rubble gritstone, featuring plain gables and a hipped south east end on the south west range.

The south west range is two storeys high with five bays, showcasing 2-light flush mullioned windows and casements that have single horizontal glazing bars. The first floor has three plain openings with boarded doors. There are three single doorways, all with quoining, heavy lintels, and plain planked doors. One doorway at the south east end has a lintel inscribed "1:0," while the doorway at the north west end, dating from 1771, features a moulded surround and a carved keyblock on the lintel inscribed "1:0." In the centre of the range, 20th-century sliding doors have been inserted.

The north east range consists of two storeys above a basement and has three bays, with a lower two-storey range adjoining the north east gable. It also features 2-light flush mullioned windows, with the central bay ground floor window deepened and fitted with 20th-century joinery. At the south west end, there is a combined doorway and a 20th-century 2-light window. The two-storey range has two doorways, one of which has a plaque above inscribed "M." The buildings are listed for their group value only.
