Description

The barn at Fair Hurst Farm, located approximately 30 metres east of the house, is likely from the 17th century with some alterations made in the 20th century. It features a single-storey structure with a cruck frame, constructed from coursed gritstone rubble and topped with a stone slate roof. The barn has six bays and includes aisled outshuts with quoins. The left part of the wall has been rebuilt.

There is a centrally placed outshut that has a board door on its right side. To the right, there is a cart entry with large boarded doors, and next to it is a shallow projecting 20th-century outshut. The right return has a large 20th-century door with an iron casement above it.

Inside, to the left of the cart entrance, there is one cruck pair with a replaced wall tie, purlin tie, and a diagonal set ridge. The rear blade rests on a concrete plinth. The adjacent principal rafter trusses are mostly 20th-century king post trusses. There is also a garage attached to the rear right, which is not of special interest.
