Description
Nether Hurst is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with later alterations and additions. It is constructed of roughcast gritstone and features plain gables, end ridge stone stacks, and a stone slated roof. The building has two storeys and four bays, with the southern bay possibly being an addition. The northern bay originally had a former three-light recessed chamfered mullioned window, which has been replaced with 19th-century horizontal sliding sashes. In the next bay, there is a quoined doorway with a massive lintel that has a chamfer, leading to a plain planked door. To the south, there is a single light window with a chamfered surround and a diamond-paned leaded light. The two bays at the southern end feature later ground floor windows, one with a 19th-century sash and the other with a 20th-century frame that has a top hung light. The interior has been altered but retains exposed ceiling beams.
