Description
Upper Hurst Farmhouse is a former farmhouse, now a house, dating from the mid 18th century with 20th-century extensions. The building is constructed of coursed rubble gritstone with quoins, plain gables, and a concrete tile roof. It stands two storeys high and has five bays, featuring an advanced gabled bay at the northeast end, while the southeast end bay consists of 20th-century additions. The central three bays have flush mullioned windows with two and three lights, all fitted with 20th-century casements that include glazing bars. There is a central doorway with quoining on the southeast side, linked to a 2-light mullioned window on the northeast, with both openings having a lintel of common depth. The front also includes a 20th-century planked door. The rear elevation features 17th-century single light openings with chamfered surrounds. The farmhouse is listed for its group value.
