Description

This is an early 18th-century house and cottage situated on the east bank in the parish of Winster. The building is constructed of coursed rubble limestone with gritstone dressings, featuring quoins. The north gable has a coped detail with moulded kneelers, and brick ridge stacks are present. The asymmetrical front elevation originally had two-light flush mullioned windows, which have been altered; these are now largely C19 casements and sash windows, with some shallow fixed lights, including those to the attic. A refashioned bay on the south end features C19 surrounds and glazing bar sashes. The house section has an 18th-century doorway with massive quoins and a six-panelled door with glazed upper panels. A later C19 doorway provides access to the attached cottage, with a C20 glazed door. Blocked 18th-century attic lights are visible on the north gable.
