Description

Hope Cross is a medieval cross that was later altered to serve as a guidepost. It was modified in 1737. The structure features a square gritstone pier that stands approximately seven feet tall. At the top, on the south side, it is inscribed with the year 1737. The overhanging square top has the word "HOPE" inscribed on the south face, "SHEFIELD" on the east face, "GLOSSOP" on the north face, and "EDALE" on the west face.
