Description
Shireoaks Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in 1680, with some early 20th-century alterations. It is constructed from coursed gritstone rubble with quoins and features gritstone dressings. The roof is slate, and there are stone gable end stacks as well as a rear wall stack. The building has two storeys.
On the rear, or north elevation, there is a chamfered quoined doorcase with a large shouldered lintel that is inscribed with 'ACK 1680'. To the west, there is a recessed and chamfered two-light mullion window, likely from the 20th century but reusing older materials. Above this is an original three-light recessed and chamfered window that has two leaded lights. In a recessed bay to the west, there is another two-light chamfered mullion window, also featuring leaded lights.
The front, or south elevation, has been completely refronted in the early 20th century.
