Description
The wall and railings enclosing the northern end of Edensor Village were built around 1842, likely by Paxton and Robertson, as part of the remodelled estate village of the Sixth Duke of Devonshire. The structure is made of coursed squared rock-faced sandstone and ashlar. It features a low wall with chamfered copings and square panelled and rusticated piers that have moulded capitals and pyramidal caps. The wall is topped with wrought iron spearhead railings that curve into the gatepiers at the north entrance and form a broad curve around the Green at the north of the village. This structure is included for its group value.
