Description
The Yews is a terrace of three cottages built around 1860 in a domestic Gothic style. The cottages are constructed from coursed squared sandstone and ashlar, featuring steeply pitched plain tile hipped roofs with three ashlar ridge stacks. They are two storeys high and have a chamfered plinth.
The west elevation consists of six irregular bays. The leftmost bay includes a single light window with a moulded lintel. The next bay projects and has a 2-light mullioned window with chamfered jambs, a stepped and moulded lintel, and a moulded mullion. The following two bays contain 2-light casement windows set in stop-chamfered surrounds, with the rightmost window featuring a stone mullion and a moulded lintel.
There is a lean-to porch with a double chamfered segment pointed arched entrance, which has stop-chamfered jambs. The next projecting bay has another 2-light mullioned window, followed by a single light casement with a moulded lintel. On the first floor, there are four 2-light casements with stop-chamfered surrounds, set in half dormers; the outer dormers have hipped roofs, while the middle ones have half hipped roofs.
