Description

The Old Vicarage is a house that was converted into a vicarage in 1838 and is now a pair of houses. It dates from the late 18th century and was possibly remodeled in 1838 by architects Paxton and Robertson. The building is constructed of coursed squared sandstone and ashlar, topped with a Welsh slate roof featuring ashlar ridge, gable, and lateral stacks. It has overhanging eaves supported by paired brackets and stands two to three storeys tall.

The south elevation is asymmetrical and consists of six bays. The two bays on the left have two glazing bar sashes on each floor. To the right, there is a projecting porch bay with an entrance that features a moulded shouldered arch, a keystone, and a moulded cornice, along with a half-glazed door. Above the entrance is a glazing bar sash in an eared surround. Further to the right, a projecting gabled bay includes a tripartite window with a cornice and a pseudo parapet, with a glazing bar sash in a moulded surround and a smaller glazing bar sash above it. The return wall on the right side has glazing bar sashes, and there is an extruded bay on the ground floor with two glazing bar sashes, plus another glazing bar sash to the right and two similar ones above. A full-height canted bay window is located to the east.

Inside, the property features an open string staircase with cast iron balusters and various marble chimneypieces.
