Description

Lower Fleet Green is a farmhouse with an attached stable and hay loft. The core of the building dates back to the 17th century, with alterations and additions made in the early 19th century. It is constructed from coursed stone and features a blue machine tile roof, with a stone ridge stack positioned to the left of center and an end stack to the left. The farmhouse has a T-shaped plan typical of the through-passage type, extended from the central core, which has two cells in each added limb, while the outbuildings occupy one limb.

The entrance front is two-storey and approximately 25 meters long, including the outbuildings on the right, and has a central break with a catslide roof. On the ground floor, there is a four-pane sash window to the left of the break and a vent to the right below the catslide. To the left of the break is a Tudor-arched doorway with a boarded door, while the extreme right features a stable door and stone steps leading to a hay loft door located at the angle to the right of the return. The south wing, dating from the early 19th century, has a symmetrical layout with two sash windows, and the south-east frontage is similar. Inside, there is an ovolo moulded beam in the broad passage behind the entrance.
