Description
The stable block located approximately 15 yards west of Hesleyside Hall is a building that dates back to 1747, as indicated by a datestone on the left return, although it is likely that it was constructed in the mid-19th century. The structure is built of random rubble with ashlar surrounds around the doors and windows, and it features a Lakeland slate roof.
This two-storey building has 14 irregularly spaced bays, four of which contain doors. All openings are adorned with heavily moulded shouldered lintels and hollow-chamfered reveals. The windows are late 19th-century sashes and casements, and the building has rusticated quoins. It also has a hipped roof and two stone corniced ridge stacks.
The stable block is included in the listing partly for its group value with Hesleyside Hall.
