Description

A row of four houses located at 25-31 South End, Osmotherley, built in 1821 with later alterations. The houses are constructed from ashlar stone and have a Welsh slate roof. They are two storeys high and comprise four bays in total, with each house occupying a single bay. Quoins are present. A paired 20th-century half-glazed and glazed door is positioned in the centre of the two houses on the right-hand side. Between the two houses on the left-hand side, there is a paired 20th-century half-glazed door, and to its right, a six-panel door. All doors feature plain stone lintels. The windows are mostly 20th-century casements, with No. 27 retaining a 16-pane side-sliding sash window. All windows have stone sills and plain lintels. A datestone inscribed 'ET 1821' with the outline of a shoe is located on the first floor between houses No. 27 and 29. The building features shaped kneelers, stone copings, and end stacks, with one ridge stack.
