Description

The Laundry, originally built around 1730, is a Grade II* listed building located in the Duncombe Park Estate in Helmsley. Constructed from sandstone ashlar, it features a square courtyard plan and a symmetrical main facade with a single storey. The entrance consists of a board door topped with a radial fanlight, flanked by four attached Tuscan columns that support a plain entablature with a stepped pediment. There are two rectangular blind panels within the colonnades. On either side of the facade, there are blank round-headed recesses beneath moulded cornices, which are flanked by low plain walls. The building was disused at the time of the re-survey and was previously listed as the Old Laundry or Dairy in the grounds of Duncombe Park.
