Description
The Southern Stable Block at Duncombe Park, built in 1846 by Charles Barry, is a Grade I listed structure made of sandstone ashlar. This stable block features a square layout with an open courtyard and a quadrant wall to the east. It is a single storey with an attic and consists of seven bays. The outer bays are flanked by rusticated pilasters and include keyed round-headed recesses, with a window in the left bay and a door in the right bay, both topped with semi-circular windows. The central bays create a keyed round-arched blank arcade supported by rusticated pilasters, which contain slit windows. The building has a dentilled cornice and a blank parapet, with corners that rise to the attic, featuring single two-light casements, a plain parapet, and urns at the corners. A plain curving wall forms a corridor with two small rectangular windows.
