Description

Sparrow Hall is a house built in the early 18th century. It is constructed from coursed tooled squared sandstone and features a pantiled roof with a stone ridge, copings, kneelers, and stacks. The building has two storeys and three windows, along with a one-storey, one-bay right wing. The central entrance consists of a half-glazed door set in a chamfered surround beneath a heavy lintel. The ground floor windows are fitted with 20th-century small-paned casements, likely in their original openings, and have stone sills, with those on the ground floor also positioned under heavy lintels. There is an eaves band and end chimneys that have bases and copings topped with terra-cotta pots. Inside, the main room on the ground floor features a chamfered beam and joists with plain run-out stops, along with several old boarded doors. A small lean-to on the right end is not considered of special interest. Nearby, there is a field gatepost that is not of interest, which is dated 1713 and bears the initials LH.
