Description
The gates, piers, and overthrow located to the south of the Church of St Mary Magdalene were constructed in 1927, as indicated on the overthrow. They are made of plain and tooled sandstone, complemented by wrought iron elements. The structure features plain, square stone piers with plinths and four-sided round-gabled tops that support ornamental wrought-iron double gates. These gates have scrolled decoration in panels and along the curved top rail. The overthrow is also scrolled and includes a cross finial and a hanging lantern. There are short spur walls made of roughly-tooled sandstone, with the left wall inscribed: "To the glory of God and in memory of Frances Popham Jenkins who entered into rest April 30th 1929."
