Description
The walls and gate piers enclosing the grounds of Egton Manor House date from the 19th and 20th centuries and were built for the Egton Estate. They are constructed from sandstone, featuring both hammered and herringbone-tooled finishes.
On the west side, the walls stand approximately 1.25 metres high and have a cambered coping. There is a pedestrian gateway located towards the southern end, which includes square-section piers topped with overhanging pyramidal caps and urn finials.
The north side features a wall that is about 0.60 metres high, sloping up to approximately 1.1 metres, with sloped coping. This side has both pedestrian and carriage gateways, which also have square-section piers with pyramidal caps. The pedestrian gate is adorned with ball finials.
On the east side, the wall reaches around 1.1 metres in height, with sloped coping that steps up and curves in places. It includes square-section piers topped with overhanging pyramidal caps and ball finials at the northern end.
