Description
Brook House is a farmhouse dating from the mid to late 18th century, featuring some alterations. It is constructed from coursed herringbone-tooled sandstone and has renewed pantiled roofs with stone copings, kneelers, and stacks. The layout follows a hearth-passage entry plan, with a downhouse that leads into a long range of outbuildings. The main house is two storeys high and has two bays, while the adjoining downhouse-outbuilding range is one storey with an attic and consists of six bays. There is a ledged and boarded through-passage door. The main house has modern plate-glass windows fitted into the original openings, along with a small fire-window on the right side. The ground floor features three stable doors, a cart door, and one window, with loft doors positioned above. The house is also characterized by block kneelers and corniced end chimneys.
