Description
Oldstead Mill is a building that has been converted into accommodation and includes a miller's house. It dates from the late 18th century and has undergone significant alterations and renovations in the 20th century. The structure is built from sandstone and limestone rubble, topped with a 20th-century pantile roof. The mill is located on the left, while the house is on the right.
The building has two storeys and five bays, with two bays for the mill and three for the house. The mill features a fixed window and a two-light Yorkshire sash window. There is a 20th-century porch at the junction of the mill and house. The house has three-light Yorkshire sash windows, while the first floor of the mill has two-light Yorkshire sashes and the house has three-light Yorkshire sashes. The mill has flat arches and the house has concrete lintels. The gable coping, shaped kneelers, and a stack at the right end are characteristic of the mill. The roofline slopes down over the house.
Inside, the building incorporates the water wheel and gearing as a decorative feature. The outbuildings are not considered of special interest.
