Description
The Primitive Methodist Chapel, dated 1880, is located on High Street in Staithes. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features a Welsh slate roof. The chapel has rusticated quoins on the sides and at the center, along with a plinth. It is two stories tall and has five bays arranged in a 1:3:1 pattern. The center section projects forward under a pediment that includes a keyed oculus. On the first floor, there are round-arched windows with architraves and keystones, and an ornamented string at the impost level. The ground floor features pilasters with leafy capitals flanking the outer doors, which also have keyed round architraves. The center has paired segment-headed windows with similar detailing. Additionally, there are cast iron area railings with fleur-de-lys standards.
