Description

Thornton House, located at No. 36 High Street in Staithes, is a house dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed stone and features a roof made of French clay tiles, with an end stack that is rendered. The building has two storeys and an attic, consisting of two bays. There are two 20th-century dormers and modern windows fitted into the original openings. The shop front includes two windows framed by quasi-Doric pilasters, and there are two four-panel doors. The house is included in the listing partly for its group value.
