Description
This barn, located approximately ten metres southeast of Cayley Becks Farmhouse, dates from the late 18th century and has been converted into a cowhouse and loft, with a 20th-century extension. It is built from herringbone-tooled sandstone, featuring ashlar quoins and dressings, and has a pantile roof. The barn is 1½ storeys high and consists of two bays. There are replacement doors in quoined doorways on each side of the extension, along with a square pitching window above. The structure has a raised eaves band, coped gables, and shaped kneelers. The returns feature a pitching window between ventilation slits, while the gable ends are finished with carved volutes and remnants of iron finials or weathervanes. The rear of the barn mirrors the front, with three ventilation slits for the loft. This building is included for its group value, although the 20th-century extension is not considered of special interest.
