Description
Bay Nigg is a house dating from the mid 18th century, with a 20th-century alteration and extension. It is constructed from rendered sandstone and features a pantiled roof with rendered stacks. The house has a central-stairhall plan and is one room deep, with an added rear extension. It stands two stories high and has a two-window front. The entrance consists of a 20th-century panelled door with glazed panes, flanked by 20th-century small-paned bow windows. The first floor has three-light small-pane casements. The gables are coped and have shaped kneelers, with stacks at each end.
Inside, there are plank and muntin partitions that survive from the ground floor to the attic. On the first floor, four-panelled doors feature H and H-L hinges. In the room to the right, there is an early 19th-century fireplace with a dentilled cornice shelf. The plank door leading to the attic has butterfly hinges.
