Description
The Old Road House is an inn that has been converted into a house, dating from the mid to late 18th century, with 19th-century extensions and a remodel around 1970. It is constructed of dressed sandstone featuring herringbone-tooled quoins and has a slate roof with rendered stacks. The building has an L-shaped plan with later extensions to the left and rear.
It is two stories high with a three-window front, and there is a single-storey extension to the left. The central entrance features a door made of six raised and fielded panels within a plain door-case topped by a cornice hood. The extension also has a similar door and a 12-pane casement window to the left. The main front windows are 12-pane horned sashes with stone sills, and all main front openings are topped with tripartite keyed lintels. The building has stacks at the ends and right of center, and the roof is M-shaped.
