Description
The footbridge across the Murk Esk, built around 1875, is a cast iron railway structure featuring steel cables and a timber deck with an iron mesh parapet. It is a single-span suspension bridge that has since been fixed in place. This bridge replaced the original horse tramway bridge, which became outdated after the York and North Midland Railway Company constructed the nearby steam railway bridge around 1847.
