Description
Mulgrave Farmhouse and adjoining outbuildings is a farmhouse, probably from the late 18th century, built of sandstone ashlar. It has a stone slate roof, which has been repaired with Welsh slates, and features stone ridge, copings, kneelers, and stacks. There is a rear extension from the 19th century made of rockfaced sandstone. The building is two storeys high with three windows. A central 19th-century glazed wooden porch has margin lights and a bargeboarded gable. On both floors, there are flanking four-pane sash windows with extended notched lintels. A narrow quasi-Venetian window is located at the centre of the first floor. The farmhouse has moulded kneelers and stepped, corniced chimneys.
The rear outbuilding extension includes boarded doors and small part-boarded openings with projecting cills, as well as a central stack. There is a two-seater privy under a pent roof at one end. Another one-storey gabled extension connects to the wall of the stable yard, featuring windows with extended lintels and raised keystones. Inside, there is a late 18th-century staircase with turned balusters and closed storage. The doors are made of six fielded panels, and there are panelled shutters, a cornice, and a marble chimneypiece in the parlour, along with dado rails in three bedrooms. The extension has an old fireplace with a peat slab.
