Description

Railway Bridge number 39, built around 1860 for the North Eastern Railway Company, is a railway bridge made of rockfaced sandstone. It features a single segmental arch constructed of voussoirs with imposts, supported by battered buttress piers that have shallow pyramidal caps. On each side, raking quadrant abutments lead to square-section piers, also topped with pyramidal caps, which serve as retaining walls.
