Description

The Village Stores is a house that includes a shop, built in 1762 as indicated by the datestone, with a later attic added. The building is constructed from hammer-dressed sandstone and features a pantile roof. It has a central entrance with a six-panel door, which has glazing in the top two panels, located beneath the datestone marked M N. The ground and first floor windows are 1762 unequal nine-pane sashes set beneath flat arches. The attic has three additional courses of herringbone tooled masonry and a small two-light Yorkshire sash window. The building also has a stepped eaves course, gable coping, and shaped kneelers. There are end stacks, with the one on the right having been rebuilt.
