Description
No 6 on Front Street is an early 19th-century house built from hammer-dressed sandstone rubble with a Roman tile roof. It is a single-cell, direct-entry, left end terrace that stands two storeys high and features one window on the first floor. The house has massive quoins, some of which display herringbone tooling. The entrance consists of a board door located to the left, accompanied by a two-light Yorkshire sash window. On the first floor, there is another two-light Yorkshire sash window, both set beneath stone lintels. The gable has coping with shaped kneelers, and the end and ridge stacks have been rebuilt. Inside, the house contains a cast iron range made by Carter of Kirbymoorside. This building is included for its group value with other nearby structures.
