Description
Dalehouse Bridge is a bridge over Staithes Beck, dated 1745. It is constructed from dressed sandstone and features a segmental arch with voussoirs and a keystone beneath a hoodmould. There is a string course below the parapet, which has a pilaster strip above the keystone and chamfered copings. The bridge has splayed abutments, and the parapet walls extend alongside the road on the east side for approximately 20 meters. The inner chamfers of the copings on the parapets are inscribed: "HEAR BEGINS THE PARRISH HINDERWELL" on the north side and "HEAR BEGINS THE PARRISH OF EASINGTON" on the south side. The keystone on the south side of the bridge is inscribed with "R.W. 1745". Additionally, the north face of the east end of the bridge abutment displays a semicircular arch with rockfaced voussoirs, which is over a former mill race.
