Description

No. 16 Castlegate is a house dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a pantile roof with brick stacks. The building has a central hallway-entrance plan and is two storeys high with three bays. The ground floor has a 20th-century half-glazed door, a 20th-century canted bay window to the left, and a three-light Yorkshire sash window with a wedge lintel to the right. On the first floor, there are three-light Yorkshire sash windows, each with wedge lintels. There is a ridge stack on the left and a stack at the right gable end. This house is included for its group value context.
