Description
The lime and coal cells at the southern end of Goathland station were built around 1865 for the North-Eastern Railway Company. Constructed from rock-faced sandstone, part of the structure is roofed in slate. There are five cells located behind the platform's rear wall, with two of the lime cells covered by a hipped-roofed shed. The cells were designed to be filled from an elevated railway siding, allowing wagons to discharge lime and coal through a bottom hatch. These cells are included in the listing for their historic interest.
