Description

Little Cottage is a cottage dating from the 16th century, which was altered and extended in the 18th century and further modified between 1989 and 1990. The building features a timber frame with plastered wattle and daub infill, painted brick at the rear, and 20th-century cream brick in stretcher bond on the side, replacing cob. The roof was uncovered during inspection, as it was formerly thatched.

The cottage is 1½ storeys high, with a 3-bay 16th-century center and 18th-century bays added to the earth end, which were rebuilt in the late 20th century. The 16th-century part has a 20th-century 2-light window on the left and a 2-light casement on the right. The end bays each project slightly and have a 20th-century 2-light window. There are four swept-roofed dormers, and there was formerly a central ridge stack.

At the rear, there is a central 20th-century plank stable door with two 20th-century windows to the left and a 2-light casement on the right. The interior was not inspected, but it is noted to have exposed timber framing, a central fireplace (with the chimney removed), and roof timbers indicating that the roof was originally hipped over the central 16th-century part.
