Description

Lea Cottage is a 17th-century cottage that was altered and enlarged in the 18th and 20th centuries. It is timber-framed with plaster infill, and has a thatched roof, with rendered brick and plain tile additions. The cottage originally comprised two bays, with two bays added to one side in the 18th century, and a wing added to the rear in the centre of the 20th century. It is a one-and-a-half-storey building. The front of the cottage has, to the left, two 18th-century bays. These contain a gabled porch with a planked door and a large 20th-century five-light window, with a similar window in a gabled dormer above. The original 17th-century part of the front has a large 20th-century two-light casement window, with a similar window in an eyebrow dormer. The tile roof has a large external 18th-century stack above the front door, and another stack over the door. The roof is half-hipped.
