Description

Hamptworth Farmhouse is an early 17th-century farmhouse, significantly altered in the 1870s. It is constructed of Flemish bond brick with a half-hipped thatched roof and an axial brick stack. The building follows a baffle-entry plan and is one storey and attic in height, with three windows facing the front. A 20th-century door is located to the right of the centre. The front windows consist of two 3-light and one 2-light 20th-century casements, all with segmental heads. Three 2-light casements are set within 20th-century eyebrow dormers. The right return exhibits stretcher bond brick facing to the timber frame, with a 2-light casement to the attic. The left return has 2-light casements to both the ground floor and the attic. The rear of the property includes a 20th-century extension and casements. Internally, the farmhouse features an open fireplace with a chamfered lintel, and exposed timber framing of the rear and side walls. It was renovated in the 1970s, at which time the eyebrow dormers were added to the front.
