Description
Penerley Lodge is a small country house that has been converted into a nursing home. It features yellow brick with decorative moulded bricks and a slate roof. The building is two stories high and has a three-bay, double-pile layout. The entrance is located at one end, while the opposite end has a one-bay, low-pitched roof addition and a low two-story, three-bay wing.
The entrance side includes a square porch set on a plinth, with octagonal turrets at each corner. Each face of the porch has a moulded four-centred arch, which is filled with a half-glazed screen that includes a central door and sidelights beneath a fanlight. Above the porch is a moulded cornice and a tall parapet. Near each end of the building, there are two-light windows with top-lights above, all under painted chamfered lintels. Over the porch, there is a 12-pane sash window, also under a similar lintel. Both gables have slightly raised chimneys and kneelers.
One side of the main block features a flatter but similar porch with a French window at the front and thin tall lights on the side. Next to this, there is a two-light window with a top-light above, under a painted chamfered lintel. On the first floor, there are 12-pane sash windows under similar lintels, linked by a moulded string course. The building is topped with a crenellated parapet, and there are end stacks on both gables, each with four shafts arranged in a row.
