Description

High Hundhowe is a house dating to the 17th century, with significant alterations and extensions in later periods. The house is built with roughcast rendered walls and has a graduated slate roof, punctuated by three large, round chimney stacks. It is two storeys in height. A two-storey porch, likely added in the 19th century, sits at the centre of the facade. To either side of the porch are two 19th-century timber mullioned windows, featuring iron opening lights and lead cames. Five windows are located above the porch. An early 20th-century extension is visible to the right, incorporating a bay window and an external staircase. The interior contains a late 17th or early 18th-century staircase with turned balusters, 19th-century fireplaces and joinery, and some 17th-century panelled doors. A bedroom cupboard is inscribed with the initials "IF" and the date 1724, and there is a spice cupboard with a plain door.
