Description
Laithwaite Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse that has undergone later alterations and extensions. It features limewashed rubble walls and a graduated green slate roof with stone ridge tiles and ball finials. There are two chimneys and the building is two storeys high. The garden front has gabled wings at each end, with the right wing set forward and a lean-to porch in the corner. The ground floor has four 19th-century casement windows, while the upper floor has five similar windows. To the right, there is a 19th-century extension that has stone rubble walls, matching the original structure.
Inside, the farmhouse retains some original doors and exposed beams. There is an ingle-nook fireplace with a modern insert, along with three late 17th-century stone fireplaces, the largest of which features flanking pilasters. The interior also includes some fitted panelled cupboards, a staircase with turned balusters, and a small amount of 17th-century panelling on the first floor.
