Description

Low Hundhowe is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, which includes an attached shippon and hay loft under a single roof. The building features roughcast rendered walls and a graduated green slate roof, along with three chimneys. It is two storeys high. The entrance on the left has a large porch with a slated pitched roof, side benches, and an oak studded door that is likely original. The entrance on the right has a 20th-century porch and door. The ground floor has four 19th-century casement windows, while the upper floor has six various windows. The shippon includes a slated lean-to and canopy, with two small openings to the first floor. Inside, there is an 18th-century staircase with turned balusters and a moulded string, a small stair with stone treads and winders, and the remains of a "beef loft" accessed from a bedroom. Additionally, there is a wall painting with an inscription from Luke Chapter 11, "cast thy bread upon the waters...." The interior also features old doors and beams.
